Damascus, (SANA) – Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ghiath Barakat affirmed during the opening of the 15th Annual Children's Hospital Conference on Tuesday his Ministry's commitment to providing all that is necessary to keep up with the developments in all fields, particularly medical fields.
In his speech at the conference, which is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education in cooperation with Damascus University, Dr. Barakat pointed out to the government's dedication to the higher education sector.
Chairman of the Conference Dr. Issam Anja'a gave a detailed presentation on the development of the Children's Hospital since its construction up until now, reviewing its services, infrastructure, equipment and supplies, in addition to the conferences and studies held there.
For his part, Director of the Children's Hospital Dr. Mutea'a Karam affirmed in a statement to SANA that the conference aims to highlight medical developments in pediatrics and benefit from experiences in that field through exchange of expertise, which guarantees the best medical services to patients. He also said that the conference helps inform participants of the Hospital's research and studies, in addition to finding solution to environmental and infection problems in the Arab world.
Specialists in pediatrics from Syrian, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Germany and Italy will participate in the 3-day conference, with lectures on premature and newborn babies' disorders, tumors, vascular disorders in children, kidney transplant and dialysis, liver infection disorders, and metabolic disorders.
The opening ceremony was attended by Rector of Damascus University Dr. Wael Muala, Head of the Physicians Guild Dr. Ahmad Qasem, Assistant Minister of Higher Education Dr. Abdulmunir Najm, Director of Educational Hospitals Dr. Amer Jamil, and a number of specialists.
