Damascus, (SANA) – The First Arab-Iranian Conference for Endocrinology and Diabetes kicked off on Wednesday, organized by the Syrian Endocrinology League and the Syrian Diabetes Association in cooperation with the Iranian Endocrinology League.
Minister of Health Dr. Maher al-Hussami underlined the recent changes in endocrinal disorders due to the changes in lifestyles, pointing out that Syria focuses on combating these disorders through national programs for diagnosis and treatment.
Participants in the conference stressed its importance in exchanging expertise and knowledge, adding that it will shed light on the latest scientific and medical developments regarding diabetes and endocrinal disorders, both of which are increasing due to obesity resulting from modern lifestyles and eating habits.
The conference discusses several issues related to thyroid and pituitary glands disorders, diabetes, iodine deficiency, diabetic pregnancy, and other issues.
The conference is attended by more than 150 medical researches from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
