Damascus, (SANA) – Minister of Health Dr. Maher al-Hussami affirmed on Sunday that law number 8 for 2008 on the countryside service of doctors and pharmacists issued by President Bashar al-Assad is part of the government's plan for developing laws and legislations and providing adequate medical services to citizens in the countryside.
In a statement to SANA, Dr. al-Hussami pointed out that the new law stipulates for two years of country service for pharmacists and doctors, decreasing the period for doctors.
He added that the law allows for exemptions, including doctors who are training for specialization, and that penalties for transgressors include fines of up to 50,000 SP and prosecution.
