Al-Hasaka, (SANA) – Archeological expeditions in al-Hasaka governorate concluded their second stage on Tuesday, uncovering a number of round residential buildings 8.5 meters high dating back to the 5th millennium BC.
Director of the al-Hasaka Archeology Department Abdul-Massih Baghdo pointed out that a temple dating back to 2400 BC was discovered at the Tel Baidar site, in addition to chambers on the eastern side of temple with decorated doors.
He pointed out to the expeditions which will arrive in mid August, which consists of Russian, French, American-Syrian, Belgian, German-Syrian, Japanese and Syrian French expeditions, in addition to two national expeditions.
There are 724 archeological sites in al-Hasaka governorate, with 348 sites currently being registered and 32 sites placed under protection, while other sites are being monitored in cooperation with heads of city councils and municipalities.
