Palmyra, (SANA)-The Syrian-American Joint Archeological Mission has discovered some architectural elements for walls and bases of stone and adobes, parts of a stone gate that is believed that it, initially, dates back to the second and third centuries A.D. The discoveries were unearthed in Palmyra at the site of Basatin al-Waha near the historical Afqa (Afka) underground spring to the East of the al-Shareia area. Head of the Syrian side Walid As'ad underlined yesterday that the mission ended its works and unearthed a lot of various pottery fractions, parts of the plaster ornaments in addition to three effaced and oxidized coins. He pointed out that the mission has made initial studying to explore milestones of the site which might be an administrative center, khan or temple.
