Damascus,(SANA)-
Under the patronage of President Bashar al-Assad the Festivity of Damascus as the Capital of Arab Culture for the year 2008, officially kicks off today at al-Assad House for Culture and Arts.
Arab League Secretary General who arrived yesterday in Damascus to participate in the festivity told reporters following his arrival at Damascus Int. Airport, celebrating Damascus as the capital of Arab Culture this year , and last year was Aleppo , the capital of the Islamic Culture underlined the strong contribution of Syria to the Arab and Islamic culture.
Mousa said that he would discuss with Syrian officials during his visit the current preparations for the Arab summit scheduled to be held in March in Damascus.
He added that he would also discuss the developments in the Arab arena , particularly in Lebanon .
Also participating in the festivity is UNESCO Director General.
