The 5th Olives and Olive Oil International Exhibition Opens Apr 18, 2007 Damascus,(SANA)- The 5th Olives and Olive Oil International Exhibition ,Olivex 2006 was opened in Damascus yesterday. Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian          Reform , Hussein Haddar who opened the exhibition told reporters that the olive trees farming in Syria has remarkably developed and that has been accompanied by the increase of production . Syria production of olive oil reached 205 thousand tons in 2006 , the  overall production of olives reached 1.1 million tons and the number of olive trees reached around 82 millions . The exhibition which  will last until 20th of current month includes 50 pavilions representing specializes local and foreign companies from Spain, Italy, France , Germany, Jordan and Iraq. A.N.Idelbi
