Syria Takes Part in Arab Travel Market in Dubai

ööööActivities of the 13th session of the Arab Travel Market - Forum 2006 - opened in Dubai Tuesday with participation of Syria and 1750 participants from 59 countries.

Khaled bin Salim, Director General of Tourism and Trade Marketing Department in Dubai which sponsors the annual organization of the exhibition, said “the exhibition reflects the development that the region is witnessing in the tourist sector,” pointing out that the area of the exhibition has been increased to 22,347 square meters in area.

Bin Salim added that the exhibition is the third biggest in the world in terms of specialization in tourism and travels.

Tom Nutely, Chairman of the Board of the Reed Travel Exhibitions, the exhibition organizer, indicated that the Arab Travel Market witnessed a 10- percent annual growth since it was launched in 1994.

He stressed that the statistics of World Tourism Organization show that the works of tourist sector in the Middle East will reach USD 148 billion.
