DAMASCUS, SANA _Syria won 1-0 vis-à-vis Kuwait in their 2010 World Cup qualifiers for Asia on Monday.
The only goal of the game was scored by Jihad Hussein in the 51st minute.
The game was watched by Prime Minister Mohamed Naji Otri and Member of the National Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Shahinaz Fakoush, a number of Ministers and members General Sport Union.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is seated atop the four-team group, having gained five points up till now.
Kuwait equalized with Iran in the home game by 2-2 and lost before the UAE by two nil.
Syria and Iran stand second and third on the list with five and three points respectively.
