Minister of Culture , Riad Naasan Agha on Thursday chaired a preparatory meeting for opening the house of Emir Abdul-Kader Aljazaeri as museum simultaneously with holding the meetings of the Syrian –Algerian Higher Committee.
The museum will be opened officially by the prime ministers of both countries ,starting off the Algerian cultural week in Damascus at the end of this month.
The minister stressed the importance of the development of bilateral cultural relations between the peoples of both countries , pointing out to Syria's contribution to the festivity of Algiers as the capital of Arab culture last year by the organization of a Syrian cultural week
which included series of cultural activities .
During the Algerian cultural week which will be held in the framework of the festivity of Damascus as the capital of Arab culture for the year 2008, a number of cultural and art activities are scheduled to be organized.
Emir Abdul-Kader Jazaeri ,was the 1st to resist the French occupation of Algeria, and his diplomacy after his exile is one to remember . He chose Syria where he lived after his exile from Algeria
