The Syrian –UAE relations have been characterized by the accord of vision with regard to Arab issues, and by the two countries' care to boost bilateral relations in the various political, economic , social , and cultural spheres .
The Arab dimension constiutes the main pillar in the policies of the two countries through their joint action to restore Arab solidarity , activation of Arab joint action and the establishment of just and comprehensive peace which is based on the implementation of the relevant UN. Security Council resolutions .
President Bashar al-Assad's visit to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait this week comes to reflect Syria's approach in the framework of her capacity as chairman of the Arab summit , to cooperate with all the Arab countries for the implementation of Damascus Summit decisions including those connected with the situation in Palestine and the necessity to lift the unjust siege on the Palestinian people , and to achieve the Palestinian national unity , a fundamental factor in the restoration of the Palestinian legitimate rights.
President al-Assad underlined during the 20th summit Syria's standing faith in the importance of the Arab joint action and vitality to the Arab nation that aspires for taking a proper position in the world of today, and therefore there will be no substitute to consultations and solidarity for unifying ranks of the Arab nation.
The jumps that have been achieved so far in cooperation between Syria and the UAE has contributed to the growing bilateral relations so much so that the UAE has become the third biggest trade partner to Syria on the Arab level where the volume of trade exchange between the two countries jumped from SP 4426 millions in the year 2000 to more than SP 20411 millions in 2006.
The standing bilateral cooperation is embodied in the joint ventures in building tourist, industrial, technological , and media cities in Syria .
Similarly, the presence of over 1178 Syrian companies operating in Abu-Dhabi reflects the interests of the businessmen and investors in both countries to boost cooperation between the two countries.
