DAMASCUS, (SANA)_ Syria on Thursday strongly condemned the terrorist criminal act which claimed the lives of Mr. Saleh al-Aridi, the member of the Political Bureau of Lebanese Democratic Party.

" Syria expresses her pain, sorrow and condolences to the brotherly Lebanon and to the deceased's family… Syria is confident that such crimes targeting the security and stability of Lebanon would not succeed in achieving their goals." A Foreign Ministry official source said in a statement.

Al- Aridi was assassinated yesterday in a booby trapped car blast in Baisour, southeast Beirut.
