Ottri Discusses Cooperation with UNIDO, Banking Issues with Malaysian Banker

DAMASCUS, (SANA)_ Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Ottri and Director-General The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Kandeh Yumkella discussed areas of cooperation between the Syrian government and the organization in a way that contributes in achievement of development in industrial sector in Syria.

During their meeting Sunday, both sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and the UNIDO, which includes the fields of training, financing small projects, rationalizing energy use and focusing on standard element in the Syrian industry to be able to compete in the international markets

Yumkella, for his part, hailed the government's plans and administrative and legislative actions taken to handle issues of the industrial sector, developing it and activating the dialogue and constructive interaction with the national industrial sectors.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Industry Fouad Issa al-Johni and the delegation accompanying Yumkella.

Later, Ottri reviewed with head of Malaysian Exim Bank Datuk Mohammad Hesham and the accompanying delegation cooperation relations between the two countries in the fields of development, transport sectors, telecommunications, water networks and stations for sanitary sewage.

Aspects of joint cooperation between the Syrian and Malaysian banks and prospects of developing it in the monetary and financial domains were also reviewed.
