DAMASCUS, ( SANA ) _ Minutes of meetings of Syrian-Turkish Partnership Council was signed yesterday evening on the sidelines of the first Syrian-Turkish Economic Forum.
The minutes included ways of expanding cooperation between Syria and Turkey through adding agricultural products to the free trade agreement and Turkish investments in Syria, especially future investments in the industrial cities and cooperation in areas of land, sea, air and railway transport, oil, electricity, gas and a number of topics on the reduction of customs tariffs on certain goods and materials Exchanged between the two countries and the abolition of statistical form.
The minutes was signed by Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Hosni Lutfi and Turkish State Minister for Foreign Trade Affairs Kursad Tuzmen.
Lutfi stressed depth and strength of the Syrian-Turkish relations and the two countries seek to enhance them by opening new prospects for cooperation or reaching to the economic integration.
In a statement to SANA reporter, the Minister pointed out to the important role played by businessmen in expanding areas of cooperation, increasing volume of trade exchange and establishing investments.
He underscored importance of the economic forum and its role in developing cooperation between the two sides and discussing difficulties facing the implementation of some articles of free trade agreement and putting appropriate solutions.
Later, the forum continued its sessions and discussed the future prospects of the Syrian-Turkish economic relations.
In the same context, Turkish Ambassador in Damascus Khaled Cevik said, in a statement, that holding the forum in Damascus is a landmark event in the march of trade and economic relations that began to grow during the six past years.
" The Forum will reflect positively not only on trade between The two countries, but on the other nations since Syria is Turkey's trade gate to the Arab countries, especially the Gulf at a time when Turkey is a gate of the Arab states to Europe," He added.
