Syria and Turkey Sign Agreement on Energy Grid Linking

ALEPPO, THE NORTH, (SANA) - Syria and Turkey inked on Wednesday noon in the northern city of Aleppo an agreement on electricity grid linking that provides Syria with one billion and 400 KWAT of electricity per year.
Director General of the General Establishment to Generate and Transfer Electrical Energy Mohamed Abou Jaish and the Director General of the Turkish Electricity Company Haji Doran Kokayan signed the agreement.
The minister of electricity Ahmed Khaled al-Ali said in a speech "the accord reflects the two neighboring countries desire to deepen relations between them when it stipulates to provide Syria with one billion and 400 KWAT for one year that can be extended."
The date of supplying Syria with electricity is October 11th and the minister underlined that this "grid linking with Turkey will be in technical and economic interests of the two neighboring countries."
For his part, the Turkish official said "we agreed with Syria to sign on accord of supplying her with electricity from the Turkish Perjink power station for one year libel to extension," asserting that "the move comes to boost efforts of the two sides in field of cooperation and opens way to sign other agreements between them."
