Baku, Azerbaijan (SANA)- Syrian Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ghiath Dr. Barakat stressed importance of boosting up the cooperation and coordination among the Islamic countries in the field of building the capabilities and knowledge.

In a speech delivered before the 4th Conference of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Baku Monday night, the Minister talked about the aspects of developing the higher education in Syria and the expansion of universities.

He said it was necessary for the Islamic countries to possess the advanced technology, especially that of the peaceful nuclear energy which has become a necessity to fill in the gap in the shortage of energy.

The Minister denounced the standards of today's world which call for banning Islamic countries from possessing the nuclear technology for peaceful uses while allowing Israel to possess it and develop nuclear weapons.
