Paris, (SANA)- French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced on Wednesday that he would pay a two-day visit to Syria on the third of September.
Addressing the annual meeting with French ambassadors, President Sarkozy said "I will be heading for Syria on the third and fourth of September to continue the dialogue between the Syrian and French sides."
Mr. Sarkozy had already rejected attempts to isolate Syria, stressing that transparent dialogue would lead to a concrete progress. In this regard he pointed out to the progress made by his talks with President Bashar al-Assad in Paris last July.
Both leaders agreed in their Paris summit on a work plan to launch the bilateral relations to enhance political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
President al-Assad discussed with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner on Monday the situations in the Middle East and the Caucus, stressing necessity of pursuing the diplomacy as only way to solve problems.
Mr. Kouchner thanked President al-Assad and Syria for seeking political solutions to the region's crises, saying a new era has started between Syria and France.
