DAMASCUS, (SANA)-Minister of Culture Dr. Riad Na’san Agha reviewed with Chairman of the French-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Group at the French Senate Philippe Marini the cultural relations between Syria and France and prospects of developing and boosting them forward.
The Minister stressed Wednesday depth of the Syrian-French relations, pointing out that the cultural relations between the two countries date back to early last century and are characterized by richness and variety.
He pointed out to the role played by the French Cultural Center in Damascus, the Syrian Cultural Center in Paris and the French archeological missions in Syria in activating these relations.
For his part, Marini highly evaluated Syria's cultural and civilized importance and its role throughout history and its current role in boosting the dialogue and understanding among peoples.
He added that project of the Union for the Mediterranean has a distinguished cultural track and it will cooperate with Syria to make it a success to serve the Mediterranean, Arab and European dialogue.
The two sides agreed on preparing a draft memo of cultural understanding as a basis for joint cultural projects in the future, particularly between Syria and France since the two countries have distinct cultural position in the Mediterranean basin.
