Beirut, (SANA)- President Bashar al-Assad on Monday sent a letter to President Michel Suleiman of Lebanon containing an invitation to visit Syria at any time he deems convenient. The letter was handed by Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem during his visit to Baabda Palace.
Talks between President Suleiman and Minister al-Moallem dealt with Bilateral relations and the current regional situation.
Minister al-Moallem affirmed that President al-Assad is committed to removing obstacles that hinder establishing distinguished relations with Lebanon in all fields, stressing the President's dedication to working for establishing diplomatic relations and opening horizons of economic cooperation and integration between the two brotherly countries.
For his part, President Suleiman underlined Lebanon's commitment to establishing the best relations with Syria, expressing appreciation of President al-Assad and pride in the relations between them.
President Suleiman expressed thanks for President al-Assad's invitation, affirming his intent to visit Syria as soon as possible.
The meeting was attended Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Fawzi Salloukh and Head of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nassri Khouri and the Director of the Special Bureau at the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
