Jakarta, (SANA) – The Asian-African Ministerial Conference for Building Capabilities for Palestine concluded deliberations in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Tuesday, with the participation of ministerial delegations from 60 countries including a Syrian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Fayssal al-Mikdad.
In a speech delivered before the Conference, Dr. al-Mikdad stressed the importance of providing support from the international community to the Palestinian people to assist them in their struggle to liberate their lands from Israeli occupation and help them build foundations to establish their own independent state on their land with Jerusalem as capital.
Dr. al-Mikdad pointed out to Syria's continuing support to the Palestinian people, underlining her hosting of around half a million Palestinian refugees.
He condemned the Israeli practices against the Palestinian people and against the Syrians in the occupied Golan, demanding that the international community act to prevent these practices and end the Israeli occupation of the occupied Arab lands.
Dr. al-Mikdad met earlier with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, discussing with him the bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East. He also met with a number of delegation heads on the sidelines of the Conference.
