CAIRO, SANA –Arab League Secretary General Amre Moussa and General Director of the Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Areas (ACSAD) Rafiq Ali Saleh on Saturday reviewed situation of foundations of the joint Arab action and mechanisms of developing their performance through researches and studies.
Moussa pointed out to the importance of food in light of the global food crisis and the necessity for finding best solutions to develop the Arab food production through a number of available scientific ways and enhancing cooperation and coordination among the concerned organizations and the Arab financing sources to carry out Arab projects in the Arab region, particularly in Sudan which is considered the basket of the Arab food.
He indicated to ACSAD important role and experience as an Arab experience house and one of the most important Arab organizations that contributes in agricultural sustainable development.
Saleh talked about ACSAD directives to develop infrastructures and expand technical research programs which are concerned with the latest scientific and modern technology developments and to improve qualification and productivity of the biogenetics resources in a way that contributes in increasing and developing cooperation with the establishments of the joint Arab action and Arab and international funds to generate new types of wheat and barley.
Saleh also discussed with General Coordinator of the Developmental, Social and Economic Summit Mirvat Tellawi the preparatory steps for the summit due to in Kuwait next year.
The two sides pointed out to the importance of setting clear vision in facing prices rise and lack of the food materials in the Arab markets.
Saleh participates in the meetings of the Higher Coordination Committee of the Joint Arab Action and the Committee of Organizations for Coordination and Follow up emerging from the Arab Social and Economic Council underway in Cairo.
