Syrian -Tunisian Thinking and Follow-up Joint Committee Discusses Regional Situation

Tunis, (SANA)-Syrian-Tunisian Joint Higher Thinking and Follow- Up Committee held Sunday a meeting at the Tunisian Foreign Ministry which was attended by Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad and Tunisian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Abdul Raouf al-Basti.
The two sides reviewed the political situations on the regional and international levels and renewed their support to the struggle of the Palestinian people for the restoration of their unity and rights and for the establishment of their independent state.
Both sides condemned the Israeli practices in the occupied Arab lands, stressing the necessity of Israel to respect the international and human law and withdraw from the occupied Syrian and Palestinian lands.
Regarding the developments in Lebanon, Mikdad and al-Basti stressed support for the security and stability of Lebanon and for the efforts exerted to find a solution through consensus of all Lebanese parties.
They also hoped Iraq's people to surmount the difficult circumstances they are passing through and achieve the comprehensive national reconciliation to preserve Iraq's Arab and Islamic identity.
Both sides underscored the importance of continuation of consultation between the two countries regarding the different political issues.
