DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Chinese Special Envoy to the Middle East Sun Bigan on Monday described his talks with Vice- President Farouk al-Shara as very successful.
"Viewpoints regarding the deteriorating situation in the region as a result of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon were identical," Bigan said in a press conference held at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus.
He said that his government "has a special vision represented by a number of points, most importantly the immediate stop of all military operations to achieve an immediate cease-fire."
The Chinese Envoy stressed the importance of outlining a political frame to settle the Lebanese-Israeli conflict reaching stability in the region, saying "the UN Security Council should listen to the Arab counters' stances and visions during its debates."
He underlined the necessity of reviving the peace process in the region soon, referring to his country's keenness to achieve the just and comprehensive peace in the region based on the international relevant resolutions and the Land-for-Peace formula.
On the Syrian-Chinese relations, he said that the two countries are celebrating nowadays the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between them, expressing relief of the advanced level of ties.
"Syria and China will spare no effort to seek new ways for promoting these ties up to better levels in the interests of both peoples," the Chinese Envoy added.
He expressed his country's appreciation of Syria's stances regarding the "Chinese one policy" and its support to China in all fields.
Mr. Bigan called on the international community to exert more efforts to establish an international fair system, stressing his country's rejection of the policy of hegemony and power in the international relations.
The Chinese Special Envoy to the Middle East is visiting Syria in the framework of a tour which also includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Palestinian territories and Israel.
