Syria and France are linked by strong cultural relations which form an important axis for rapprochement between the two peoples and the two governments .
The French culture in Syria has found a proper climate to spread , and France sees in Syria a civilized and cultural polarization center among the Arab countries .
The cultural relations have never stopped between them and have always been a starting point for dialogue and rapprochement between the two countries.
The activities of the Syrian Cultural Center in Paris , and those of French Cultural center in Damascus over the years are the best evidence of this relationship.
Such relations have even more cemented by the standing agreements between the French Louvre Museum and the Syrian National Museum with regard to training the cadres and expansion of the current national museum in Syria in addition to the French contribution to the building of the new museum scheduled to be built in Damascus in 2009.
The is also a protocol for Syrian-French cooperation including the twinship between alAssad Library in Damascus, and the French National Library in Paris in sphere of manuscripts exchange and restoration in addition to the work of the French archeological missions in Syria .
In the forthcoming Damascus Film Festival , a large French delegation of movie directors and more than 15 films are scheduled participate in the festival .
The Syrian culture Minister, Riyad Naasan Agha 's visit to Paris last June opened a new page in the Cultural relations between the two countries.
During French President Nicholas Sarkozy's visit to Syria, he opened the French School of Charles De Gaulle in Damascus.
