Damascus, (SANA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Fayssal al-Mikdad discussed on Wednesday the situation in the occupied Arab lands with a delegation from the special committee in charge of investigating Israeli practices that infringe on the human rights of Palestinians and Arabs and occupied territories, including the occupied Syrian Golan.
Discussions underlined the suffering of people in the Golan and Palestine due to the ongoing Israeli criminal practices and continuous violations that contradict with international law and human rights.
Dr. al-Mikdad pointed out to the tragic condition of Syrian and Palestinian captives in Israeli prisons and the constant violation of their basic human rights, pointing out to the critical condition of the two Syrian captives Seitan al-Wali and Bishr al-Makt, calling on the international community to pressure Israel into releasing them and other Arab prisoners without delay.
He also affirmed Syria's support of the committee and the need to enable it to fulfil its duties and uncover the Israeli violations of human rights in the occupied Arab lands.
For his part, head of the committee Ambassador Prasad Kariyawasam expressed appreciation of Syria's commitment to supporting the committee, underlining the need for the committee to continue its work until the Israeli occupation of Arab lands ends. He reviewed the results of the committee's tour in the region, stressing its members' sympathy with the Palestinians and Syrians that suffer due to the practices of the Israeli occupation forces.
