Damascus, (SANA) – Speaker of the People's Assembly Dr. Mahmoud al-Abrash discussed on Tuesday with Chairman of the Turkish-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Association Mohammad Shander and the accompanying delegation bilateral parliamentary relations and the Association's role in developing them.
Dr. al-Abrash discussed the People's Assembly's work mechanism, structure, representation quota and mechanisms of cooperation between the Assembly and the government. He stressed the important role of Syrian and Turkish MPs in bolstering and developing Syrian-Turkish relations and parliamentary cooperation.
For his part, Shander expressed his country's support to Syria and its commitment to continuing work for achieving the interests of the two countries' peoples, underlining the need to intensify visits among MPs to coordinate and discuss important issue.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Arab and Foreign Relations Committee at the People's Assembly Suleiman Haddad, Chairman of the Syrian-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Committee Ismat Mahli, some members of the People's Assembly, and the Turkish Ambassador in Damascus.
