Damascus, (SANA) – Syrian journalists affirmed on Wednesday their support of the Palestinian people and their struggle to gain their freedom and independence and achieve their goals of returning to their homeland and establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Syrian Journalists Union issued a statement during a sit-in held in front of its Damascus headquarters on occasion of the 60th anniversary of the occupation of Palestine.
The statement affirmed Syrian journalists' commitment to Syria's course of resistance in defense of Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause. It stressed that Palestinian national unity is the basis for protecting the Palestinian people's national struggle and resistance of Israeli occupation.
The Union called world journalists and the international community to assume their responsibility in stopping the continuing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and lift the siege imposed on them.
Participants in the sit-in included Assistant Minister of Information Taleb Qadi Amin, Chairman of the Journalists Union Elias Murad, Deputy Chairman of the Arab Journalists Union Saber Falhout, and a number of officials and Syrian, Arab and foreign journalists.
