BEIRUT, ( SANA ) _ Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, of Alexandria and of Jerusalem for Greek Catholic Melkites Gregorios III Laham has confirmed that the 20th Damascus Arab Summit is one of the most important Arab summits, in spite of the difficulties and challenges it faced under the critical Arab and international stances and situations in Palestine and Iraq.
In a letter directed to the Arab Summit in Damascus, Patriarch Laham said that this Summit is distinctive, wishing the inter-Arab relations to upgrade to the highest level of cooperation, amity and unity for the benefit of Arabs as a whole.
" The brotherly Syrian-Lebanese relation is deep-rooted in the history and one of the most important bilateral relations at the cultural, religious, social and family levels between peoples of the two countries," the letter included.
the Patriarch addressed the Arab leaders saying that we set our hopes and rely on what you will do for the future of the peace in Palestine and the work to alleviate the pain and suffering of our people in Iraq and for the good of all Arabs.
" We pray for the success of this summit and we consider every Arab summit as a good occasion to express the unity of our Arab world and for activating march of the justice and peace between the East and West since it is the guarantee of the Arab-West dialogue and the Islamic-Christian dialogue, which we must exert efforts to embody, develop and fortify it." The Patriarch concluded his letter.
