DAMASCUS, (SANA) - A workshop on the media role in handling Youth's issues was held on Tuesday in Damascus by Ministry of Information in cooperation with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund.
Assistant Information Minister Talib Qadi Amin underlined the importance of this event to discuss significant issues related to youth ,adding "the gathering came in the framework of a series of activities on housing and development issues held by the ministry in cooperation with many other public institutions and international organizations".
"International organizations' cooperation is very productive and distinguished, particularly UNFPA, to achieve national purposes put by the government according to specified plans', Amin said, indicating to the role of the official and private media in making such programs and activities a success.
Director of Development Media Department at Ministry of Information Mazen Nafaa said that the aims of this workshop concentrate on outlining the future vision of media's team which will have the capability of presenting issues and developing initiatives to contribute to drawing the national strategy of media in Syria .
Lecturers from the Sate Planning Commission , UNFPA , Women Union and the Syrian Association for Environment spoke about the work's strategy with youth in the 10th Five- year plan and its work in youth field ,volunteers 'work and building capabilities of youth ,In addition to enabling them to participate in the local development programs and facing poverty and illiteracy's challenges .
They also talked about the necessity of creating a suitable world for youth in a way that guarantees their rights and offers equal opportunities among females and males.
